{BANDA DO DIA - DURAN DURAN}
Essa banda de Birmingham (Inglaterra) surgiu em 1980 e tem a seguinte formação: Simon Le Bon (vocalista), Nick Rhodes (teclados), John Taylor (baixo), Roger Taylor (bateria - não confundir com o Roger Taylor, baterista do Queen) e Andy Taylor (guitarra). Pelo que vcs estão vendo, esse grupo deveria se chamar "The Taylors", já que praticamente todos os integrantes têm esse sobrenome (haha !!).
Para muitos, o Duran Duran representa o máximo da concepção "New Wave/New Romantic", movimento que tinha influências de Soul, Funk, Disco, Punk e até mesmo uma pitada GLS. Roupas de couro, quepes, correntes, cabelos extravagantes eram a última palavra em moda entre os jovens ingleses. E, musicalmente, os sintetizadores e baterias eletrônicas tornavam possíveis muita criatividade e ousadia.
O baixista John Taylor nomeou a banda baseado num vilão interpretado por Milo O'Shea num filme de ficção científica de 1967 chamado "Barbarella", estrelado pela atriz Jane Fonda. Em 1981, conseguem um contrato com uma gravadora (EMI) e lançam o primeiro single, chamado "Planet Earth". O primeiro álbum vem no mesmo ano, chamado "Duran Duran" (que nome criativo, hein!!!!!).
Em Janeiro de 1988, o Duran Duran se apresenta pela primeira (e até então única) vez no Brasil, primeiro na Praça da Apoteose, no Rio de Janeiro e depois no Morumbi em São Paulo.
O último CD lançado pela banda foi "Pop Trash" de 2000.

{BANDA DO DIA - BLITZ}
O grupo, liderado por Evandro Mesquita, começou as suas atividades em 1980. O primeiro compacto "Você Não Soube Me Amar", lançado em 1982, atingiu um enorme sucesso. Logo depois, veio o LP "As Aventuras da Blitz". Essa banda se diferenciava das outras pela sua performance teatral, backing vocals femininas com vozes marcantes e letras bem-humoradas, criando um estilo peculiar de se fazer música. Não demorou e ela virou mania nacional, atingindo seu ápice no Rock In Rio I em 1985.
A banda era bem popular com as crianças e por esse motivo lançou revistas em quadrinhos e álbuns de figurinha. Vale lembrar, também, que Evandro Mesquita participou da gravação de "Fera Neném" do Trem da Alegria. Depois do terceiro LP a banda se desfaz, em 1986, voltando a se reunir ocasionalmente para shows ou eventos. Em 1995, a banda lançou um CD "Ao Vivo" e depois alguns ex-integrantes se juntaram para lançar o CD "Línguas" (1997) e "Últimas Notícias" (1999).
Seus integrantes eram: Evandro Mesquita, guitarra e voz; Fernanda Abreu, backing vocal; Marcia Bulcão, backing vocal; Ricardo Barreto, guitarra; Antônio Pedro Fortuna, baixo; William Forghieri, teclados; Lobão, substitído por Jubá, bateria. Fernanda Abreu seguiu uma bem-sucedida carreira solo e Evandro Mesquita se firmou como ator.

{BANDA DO DIA - ERASURE}
Já que "A Little Respect" ganhou como música da semana, nada mais justo que o Erasure seja a banda do dia. Essa banda inglesa é formada por Andy Bell e Vince Clarke. Ela começou quando Andy repondeu a um anúncio de procura por um cantor feito por Vince. Depois de 40 cantores serem ouvidos, Andy acaba sendo aceito.
O nome "Erasure" vem do filme "Eraserhead". Vince afirmou diversas vezes que não gosta do nome do grupo. O primeiro single da banda foi lançado em 1985, chamado "Who Needs Love". No ano seguinte, foi lançado o primeiro álbum da banda, chamado "Wonderland".
A banda continua na ativa e seu mais recente disco é "Other People's Songs", lançado no dia 27 Janeiro de 2003 (recém-saído do forno...). Ele é composto por um apanhado de covers das músicas favoritas da banda. O primeiro single desse álbum foi "Solsbury Hill" do Peter Gabriel.

How Bizarre, How Bizarre !!!!!
Estava eu em meio canto quando meu irmão Daniel me chama para assistir algo no mínimo estranho na TV. Se tratava do "Fim de Semana MTV - One Hit Wonders" e passava um clipe de uma banda chamada "Twisted Sister" que possui como vocalista um ser BIZARRO, MUUUUIIIIITOOOO BIZARRO chamado Dee Snider, como vcs podem atestar na foto abaixo.
O clipe era da música "We're Not Gonna Take It". Ouça aqui se tiver coragem...

{BANDA DO DIA - A-HA}
Essa banda de Oslo (Noruega) é formada por Morten Harket (vocalista), Paul Waaktaar-Savoy (guitarrista) e Magne Furuholmen (tecladista). Os dois últimos dividem grande parte das composições. O nome "a-ha" vem da interjeição "aha!" que significa descoberta, surpresa , enfim. A justificativa foi a de que os integrantes queriam um nome curto, de fácil memorização e que lembrasse o som do idioma norueguês. Logo, "aha" era o nome perfeito para a banda, gravado com o hífen para obter um melhor efeito.
O primeiro disco lançado foi "Hunting High And Low" (1985), vendendo mais de 10 milhões de cópias, atingindo um sucesso estrondoso de público e crítica. "Take on Me" ficou em primeiro lugar em vários países e o disco ainda faturou o Grammy e prêmios da MTV e Billboard. A banda ficou parada por 7 anos, voltando a ativa em 2000 com o cd "Minor Earth Major Sky".
O A-ha já fez 3 shows no Brasil em 1989, 1991 (no Rock In Rio 2) e em agosto de 2002 (Credicard Hall - SP, Gigantinho - RS e Atl Hall - RJ), sendo que compareci neste último. O show era da turnê do cd novo, chamado "Lifelines". Ele foi até razoável mas ficaram faltando alguns "clássicos", tais como: "You're the One", "Touchy" e "Crying In The Rain".

{QUANDO EU ERA PEQUENO - PROGRAMA "VIVA A NOITE"}
Esse programa era apresentado por Gugu Liberato e passava aos sábados na antiga TVS (atualmente SBT). Ele tinha algumas "pérolas", tais como: o "Sonho Maluco"(o Gugu quase morreu num desses quadros, quando ele tinha de passar por um túnel pegando fogo com uma roupa especial), "Dança da Galinha Azul" ( "De Leste a Oeste, de Norte a Sul, essa é a dança da Galinha Azul...") e , principalmente, o "Baile dos Passarinhos".

{BANDA DO DIA - TEARS FOR FEARS}
Esse grupo inglês começou quando dois amigos de escola chamados Roland Orzabal (vocal/guitarra) e Curt Smith (vocal/baixo) se uniram e decidiram formar uma banda. O nome "Tears For Fears" é uma referência a "terapia do grito" criada pelo psiquiatra Arthur Janov para o confronto de problemas psicológicos relacionados a infância - assunto já utilizado por John Lennon em seu disco experimental "Plastic Ono Band" de 1970. O primeiro single foi lançado em 1982 com o nome de "Suffer For Children". Devido a divergências pessoais, Curt sai da banda em 1992. Mesmo assim, Roland lança mais dois discos : Elemental (1993) e Raoul And The King Of Spain (1995)

Haverá um show do Bryan Ferry no Atl Hall, dia 12 de fevereiro. Para quem não está ligando o nome a pessoa, esse é o autor de alguns "hits" tais como "Slave to Love" e "Don't Stop The Dance".

Nada melhor para nossas lembranças infantis do que o TREM DA ALEGRIA . Esse grupo iniciou a sua carreira em 1985 com a seguinte formação: Juninho Bill, Patrícia (Marx), Luciano e Vanessa (da dupla Luan e Vanessa, aquela mesmo da música "Quatro Semanas de Amor"). Após experimentar outras formações, o Trem da Alegria fecha as suas atividades em 1991.

{BANDA DO DIA}
Nada melhor do que iniciar esse blog com uma banda que tem a cara dos anos 80 - THE SMITHS
Essa banda de Manchester - berço de algumas bandas atuais, tais como Oasis, Doves e algumas mais antigas como o Joy Division e New Order - se originou em 1982 quando Patrick MORRISSEY (vocalista) e Johnny Marr (guitarrista) se unem a Mike Joyce (baterista) e Andy Rourke (baixo) e decidem formar a banda. O nome "Smith" - extremamente comum na Inglaterra, tal como Silva no Brasil - consiste numa crítica ao cenário musical pop da época onde várias bandas de qualidade duvidosa e com músicas descartáveis se escondiam atrás de nomes cheios de pompa. Ou seja, MUITA FUMAÇA PRA POUCO FOGO. O primeiro single da banda, chamado "Hand In Glove", foi lançado em 1983, fazendo com que ela desse o primeiro passo para o sucesso.
A banda termina em 1987, produzindo no total 7 discos, sem contar os singles e as coletâneas lançadas após o seu término.
